Hair Style

This style is '60s inspired, but the vibe is more sophisticated than sex kitten, says Ken Paves, cocreator of Hairdo extensions and stylist behind Jennifer's Golden Globes hair.

Step one: Blow-dry wet hair with a medium round brush," instructs Paves. If your hair doesn't easily hold a curl, apply gel or curling cream before drying. "Then, while your hair is still hot, take two-inch-wide sections and wrap each one around two fingers, creating smooth barrel curls." Anchor each new curl against the scalp with a bobby pin, and let it set for a few minutes. "Your hair should be cool before removing the pins," he notes.

Step two: Brush hair through using your fingers," notes Paves. "To make the texture last, spray with a medium-hold hair spray." We like VO5 Quick Hold Fast Drying Hair Spray ($3.49). "If your hair is short or fine, attach a Hairdo 18-Inch Clip-in Wavy Extension [$95] to get the volume and texture for this look," he suggests.

Step three: Take the side sections of hair (leaving the crown out), and pull them up, fastening tightly with an elastic on top of the head," he says. "Tease the remaining hair at the crown, and pull it back so that it covers the elastic. Secure in place with pins."

Step four: Finally, seal in shine and prevent flyaways with an antifrizz spray. To keep your style smooth all night, Paves recommends Kérastase Paris Vernis Nutri-Sculpt ($29).
